The best seating position can vary depending on your vehicle and car seat, so always follow both the vehicle owner’s manual and the car seat manufacturer’s instructions.2) Keep your newborn rear-facing.A newborn should ride in a rear-facing car seat. Babies have relatively large heads and developing necks and spines. In a crash, a rear-facing seat helps spread the force across the baby’s back and provides better protection for the head, neck, and spine. Keep your child rear-facing for as long as they remain within the height and weight limits specified by the car seat manufacturer.3) Make sure the car seat is securely installed.Install it correctly using the vehicle seat belt or the appropriate ISOFIX/LATCH system, depending on your car seat and vehicle. Check that the seat does not move excessively at the belt path or attachment points. If you’re unsure whether it’s installed correctly, check the manufacturer’s instructions or use a local child car seat fitting or inspection service.
