[Week 38 Mother] The difference between a bloody show and bleeding

Dewing refers to a viscous discharge that contains blood and occurs as the cervix slowly opens. Dewy discharge is a welcome sign that labor is just two to three days away, but some women experience it as early as a week before delivery.

However, it's important to distinguish this drizzle from bleeding, and if it's bloody rather than sticky, or if it's accompanied by abdominal pain or decreased fetal movement, it's a good idea to see your OB/GYN. If you're not sure what's going on, it can be helpful to take a picture of any bloody tissues or pads to send to your doctor.
