[Week 30 Mother] Try sleeping on your left side.

Lying upright can cause the inferior vena cava to be compressed by the enlarged uterus, reducing the amount of blood returning to the heart.

This decrease in blood flow can make you feel stuffy or cause you to break out in a cold sweat. You may want to try sleeping on your side to prevent these symptoms.

You can do this by placing a cushion between your knees, or whatever position you can comfortably rest and sleep in.

The inferior vena cava is located on the right side of the body, more toward the center, so sleeping on your left side will help reduce pressure on the inferior vena cava.
