[Week 18 Baby] I can now hear Mommy and Daddy!
Your baby's hearing continues to develop; the inner ear structure starts to function. That does not mean that your baby can hear things the way we do, but they knows about mom and dad from hearing them talk.
The proportion of the head starts to decrease, fingertips and toes now have prints, and your baby is so big that may not fit in one ultrasound screen.
And the invisible nerve system is growing rapidly. Myelin, which connects nerve cells, is making a complex connection system. And senses based on brain function - touch, taste, smell, hearing - are developing, too.
