You've completed your intrauterine insemination (IUI)!

After the procedure, you may rest briefly at the clinic before going home.

Walking or standing after IUI will not cause the sperm placed in the uterus to “fall out.” Most people can return to their normal daily activities the same day, although it is generally best to avoid strenuous exercise and take it easy.

About 1 week after IUI

If fertilization has occurred, the embryo may be developing and implantation may be taking place around this time.

It may still be too early to know whether you are pregnant, so rather than testing too soon, wait until the time recommended by your healthcare provider.

About 2 weeks after IUI

Pregnancy can generally be checked around this time. Depending on your clinic's instructions, pregnancy may be confirmed with a urine or blood test.

You may be prescribed medication to support implantation

After IUI, luteal phase support such as progesterone may be prescribed to support the uterine lining, implantation, and early pregnancy.

It may be given as vaginal medication, oral medication, or injections. Whether it is needed, how it is used, and how long it is continued depend on your treatment protocol and individual needs.

If pregnancy is confirmed, you may be advised to continue the medication for a period of time. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions.
