IUI Step 3 – You've Had Your Trigger Shot

Once an ultrasound confirms that the follicles have developed sufficiently, a trigger injection is given to induce final oocyte maturation and ovulation.

This injection helps trigger ovulation after the follicles have reached an appropriate stage of development.

Because the timing of intrauterine insemination (IUI) is coordinated with ovulation, your healthcare professional will schedule the procedure based on the timing of the trigger injection.

On the day of IUI, a semen sample is prepared to select motile sperm, which are then placed directly into the uterus.
